The Barbican Museum presented Beatriz González
The Barbican Museum presented “Beatriz González” from February 25 to May 10, 2026. In the video, Beatriz González reflects on her works shortly before her passing. Her works range from large-scale paintings to transformed furniture, wallpaper, and installations, all inspired by found images from postcards, Western art reproductions, and newspaper clippings. Using her unique graphic style and vibrant color palette, González reimagined these images to challenge notions of taste, critique authority, witness violence, and thoughtfully reflect on grief, displacement, and community. This is the first retrospective in the United Kingdom of the Colombian artist, whose bold works delved into the power and influence of everyday images. Featuring over 150 works, many of which are exhibited in the UK for the first time, the exhibition spans González’s impactful career from the 1960s to 2025.
