The organizers of Liverpool Biennial 2027 have announced the curators who will lead its upcoming edition, scheduled to take place from 5 June to 12 September 2027. Lucía Sanromán and Aimee Harrison have been selected as co-curators.
Sanromán currently serves as Chief Curator at the Museo Universitario Arte Contemporáneo (MUAC) in Mexico City and brings extensive international experience focused on socially engaged artistic practices. Harrison, who has been working with the Biennial since 2019, has developed collaborative projects with a wide range of communities, including young people, migrant groups, and individuals in vulnerable situations.
The curatorial framework for this edition will focus on exploring the perspectives and experiences of childhood and youth, both in Liverpool and in broader global contexts. In this regard, Harrison’s long-standing engagement with local communities and Sanromán’s international perspective are presented as complementary approaches within the project.
According to Samantha Lackey, Director of the Biennial, the co-curation model will enable the integration of a strong local understanding with a broader international outlook, fostering knowledge exchange. Further details, including participating artists, are expected to be announced in the coming months.
