Jean Charlot

Jean Charlot was born in Paris in 1898. He attended the Ecole des Beaux Arts.Served in World War I. In 1920 moved to Mexico, there Charlot allied himself with the Mexican Mural Movement and painted murals for The Ministry of Education and The National Preparatory School in Mexico City. He also painted a Mural for The Carnegie Institutionin the USA.In 1949 he settle in Hawaii where he was a professor at University of Hawaii until his death in 1979. Charlot produced more tha n 600 easel paintings,700prints and 36 worksof art in fresco,ceramic,for public sites
