La máquina del tiempo (The Time Machine), at the Colección Balanz

The Colección Balanz has been building a significant collection of contemporary art since 2008, with a focus on Latin American art. To date, it includes over 700 substantial works by artists such as Francis Alÿs, Doris Salcedo, Adrián Villar Rojas, Voluspa Jarpa, Tomás Saraceno, Regina José Galindo, Vania Mignone, Teresa Margolles, Liliana Porter, and Ernesto Neto, demonstrating its importance. Originally established as a corporate collection displayed within the company’s own environment—offering works in workplace and business settings—it has gradually expanded its outreach beyond internal initiatives for employees and clients. These include school visits, loans, online resources, and two carefully curated books that broadened the collection's reach.

On Friday, March 27, 2026, the Colección Balanz opened its new space for temporary exhibitions, the Sala Nazaré, located in downtown Buenos Aires, with an exhibition featuring works by 20 artists from the collection, curated by Florencia Battiti. The curatorial theme, titled La máquina del tiempo (The Time Machine), explores the dialogue that different artists establish between various temporalities. This exhibition brings together prominent pieces of international contemporary art—by Anselm Kiefer, Mathieu Mercier, and Indian artist Raqib Shaw—alongside a splendid collection of mostly Argentine works—including those by Nicola Costantino, Humberto Rivas, Pablo Suárez, Marta Minujín, Guillermo Kuitca, and the Mondongo collective—along with works by Brazilian Vik Muniz and the iconic works of Colombian Miguel Ángel Rojas.
