Arte in Colombia #172
In July 1976, the first issue of Arte en Colombia made its debut. The magazine outlined its long-term goals in its editorial note: “To promote the visual arts within and beyond our country’s borders, to awaken a greater interest in the arts among our readers –specialists and non-specialists alike– and to help foster understanding of both national and international artistic matters, as well as to interpret and broadcast the most significant artistic movements currently taking place in Colombia and Latin America” (p. 7).

By crossing borders, Arte en Colombia has become the nexus between Colombia, Latin America, and the rest of the world.” This undertaking has reinforced the publication’s commitment to informing and educating readers about Latin American art by highlighting international events, major exhibitions, and biennials, firmly positioning Latin American Art within the global arena.
The magazine’s mission remains intact: to promote, disseminate, and su...
