This house belonged to the Liberator Simon Bolivar. Its history goes back to 1670, when the bachelor Pedro de Valenzuela donated to the hermitage of Monserrate 100 Castilian land sticks, located in the place called La Toma de la Aduana. In 1800, the chaplain of Monserrate sold the property to the principal accountant of the Santafé tobacco rent, José Antonio Portocarrero. The new owner built a fifth country that arranged to entertain the wife of Viceroy Antonio Amar y Borbón, on his birthday.
