The building that houses the el Museo del Prado was initially conceived by José Moñino y Redondo, Count of Floridablanca and First Secretary of State of King Charles III, as Royal Cabinet of Natural History, within the framework of a series of scientific institutions according to the new mentality of the Enlightenment) for the redevelopment of the walk called Salon del Prado.
