
The Ca 'd'Oro is a remarkable building in Venice, which currently houses a museum. It was built from 1442 by Giovanni and Bartolomeo Bon on behalf of the procurator of San Marcos, Marino Contarini. It represents a good example of the change that marks the passage from the Gothic style to the Renaissance in Venice. The marble tracery of the first and second floors and the parapets of the windows and balconies show forms that clearly indicate the late gothic style.
