The Correr Museum is the Municipal Museum of Venice, located in Piazza San Marco, in front of the homonymous basilica, occupying the Napoleonic Wing and the Procuratie Nuove designed by Vincenzo Scamozzi, a bureaucratic building that frames three quarters of the square. The Napoleonic Wing was later built on the same place as the small church of San Gimigniano which was in front of the opulent Byzantine basilica of San Marco.
