Description

This grand building, now home of the International Gallery of Modern Art and the Museum of Oriental Art in Venice, was designed in the 17th century by the architect Baldassarre Longhena on behalf of the rich Pesaro family. Its construction lasted from 1652 to 1710: in 1682 Longhena died and the building was still incomplete. Then, the family entrusted its finalization to Antonio Gaspari, who completed it in 1710, contributing very slight modifications to the original project.
