It is impossible to acknowledge everyone who has played a role in shaping the Center’s history since it opened on November 2, 1975, but any history must begin with Mrs. Eleanor Magee. A retired music teacher from Pennsylvania with a degree in literature, Magee was one of the chief organizers of the city-sponsored Seven Lively Arts Festival held annually in Young Circle Park beginning in 1960. Seven Lively Arts featured music, visual arts, and dance performances at a time when Hollywood’s population more than tripled from 35,237 in 1960 to 125,400 in 1975.
