The Museo Tumbas Reales de Sipán is a modern building built in the shape of a truncated pyramid but in reinforced concrete, inspired by the ancient Moches sanctuaries.

It houses in its interior true jewels of art in gold, silver and copper discovered in 13 tombs mochicas. Highlights of the remains of the Lord of Sipan.

This museum was inaugurated by the then president of the republic Alejandro Toledo, on November 8th, 2002. Currently it is an institution with a vision of future to the community, with educational programs, research center. The museum is run by archaeologist Walter Alva, project director and who was also the discoverer of this burial in the archaeological zone of Huaca Rajada, in the town of Sipán.
For the museum's management team, the challenge was to create a unitary, complex, exceptional and creative museology, which was approached under 10 large thematic units:

The Tomb of the Lord of Sipán
The Tomb of the Priest

Each of these units should have a set of sub-themes and thematic guidelines, treated in spaces according to their importance, concepts and museum materials. The alternatives in museographic devices and supports, such as showcases, lighting, graphics, diagrams that are part of the design and assembly of the exhibition, should be didactic and creative.
Under these guidelines was formed the technical team that had to elaborate the museographic script and the guidelines of the final museography.
