The Museo Contemporáneo de Arte of the Universidad de São Paulo opened its doors for the installation Transarquitetônica by artist Henrique Oliveira, who used recycled materials from an urban factory in his hometown to create the installation: columns in the form of serpents created with wood that were rolled in the interior of the museum. Each column begins with the representation of tree roots that at the end are turned into narrow pieces of wood in a white room. Oliveira's idea is to allow viewers to experience the world of sculpture and feel almost invaded by it. He also aims at showing the manner in which architecture, mankind and nature have changed as they leave behind the organic forms. According to Tadeu Chiarelli, curator and director of the MAC USP, "Transarquitetônica reclaims the narrative dimension of some earlier works by Henrique Oliveira. His is a proposal that seeks the epic as it fusions several artistic disciplines." The exhibition will remain open to the public until November 30. Hours: Monday, from 10 am to 9 pm, and Wednesday through Sunday, from 10 am to 6 pm. Admission is free.
