Instituted by the Montblanc Cultural Foundation, the 26th edition of the Montblanc de la Culture Arts Patronage Award was granted to Solange Farkas at the Pinacoteca do Estado de São Paulo on October 10, in recognition of her work on behalf of the Associação Cultural Videobrasil, organizer of the Sesc-Videobrasil International Contemporary Art Award, event that has become the most important festival for video art production in the Southern Hemisphere. The award consists of an international competition that evaluates cultural patronage projects in seventeen countries. Brazil became part of this select group of nations capable of receiving the hosting the award. The jury members representing brazil as part of the event's international jury were: Paula Alzugaray, art critic, independent curator and editorial director of the specialized art magazine seLecT; Luciano Cury, content director at Canal Arte 1; and André Sturm, filmmaker, cultural activist, and current cultural secretary of São Paulo. The award ceremony was attended by the curators and chairmen of the Montblanc Cultural Foundation, Sam Bardaouil and Till Fellrath. In addition to Brazil, this year the award will also be granted in Germany, China, Colombia, South Korea, Spain, the United States, France, Greece, Hong Kong, Italy, Japan, Mexico, the United Kingdom, Russia, Switzerland and, for the first time, in Bangladesh.
