Servando Cabrera Moreno was born in Havana in 1923 and died in the same city in 1989. He studied fine art at San Alejandro Academy, where he graduated in 1942. The revolutionary themes entered his paintings in 1959, his style fixed completely to new reality in his serie Campesinos y milicianos (Farmers and Militiamen), exhibited in 1961 and in the serie Heroes, jinetes y parejas (Heroes, Horsemen and Couples), exhibited in 1964. In 1966, he started an expressionistic stage of large duration. Then, without forgetting previous themes, he worked in a group of female heads and in a vigorous serie of Guerilla Fighters´ Faces. He obtained medals of gold, silver and brass at different salons and other distinctions like First Mention in'' VIII International Prize of Drawings Joan Miró'', Barcelona, Spain, in 1969.
