Palais de Tokyo

Following an overhaul by the architects Anne Lacaton and Jean-Philippe Vassal, the Palais de Tokyo in Paris re-opened its doors to the public as the biggest contemporary art center in Europe.

With a cost of 20 million euros, the renovation took ten months and resulted in a space that now measures a total of 236,000 square feet. Part of the new appeal of the Palais de Tokyo resides in its unfinished, almost abandoned, appearance. Nothing appears to be thoroughly clean or purposely organized, as the cables are partially exposed.

The exhibition rooms will not be the only spaces in which the exhibitions at the center will be shown, as the hallways and stairways will also be used to display artwork. The revamped space has already scheduled every two months the exhibition of works by six emerging contemporary artists.

The Palais de Tokyo is located at 13, avenue du Président-Wilson, Paris. More information is available at: http://www.palaisdetokyo.com/
