Gesner Armand

Untitled Document Gesner Armand was born in Croix-des-Bouquets June 11th 1936. At a very young age, he joined the "centre d’art" where he was taught by Pierre Monosiet to paint aquarelle. Gesner Armand lived in Mexico from 1958-1960. In 1960 he received a scholarship from the French government. He lived in Paris from 1960 until 1962 where he frequented with other Haitian artists like Herve Telemaque and Max Pinchinat. Back in Haiti, Gesner Armand settled down to pursue his career as a painter. He became the director of the "Musee du College St. Pierre" and a founding member of the "Fondation Culture Creation". From 1957 until today he exhibits his art in many different countries such as Haiti, Mexico, United States, France, Spain, Martinique, Venezuela, Israel, Dominican Republic and recently also in Equator. Gesner Armand plays a very big role in the history of modern Haitian art. Today he is truly one of the most remarkable and talented Haitian artists.
