Mexican artist Frida Kahlo (1907-1954) and Colombian artist Fernando Botero (1932) will be protagonists in upcoming Latin American art auctions organized by Sotheby's on May 25, 2011. Auctioned for the second time by Sotheby's, Autorretrato en Miniatura (Self-Portrait in Miniature), the smallest work by Kahlo, is expected to sell at an estimated 1.2 million dollars. Sotheby¿s had sold the piece back in 2000 for the amount of 225,750.00 USD (click

On the back Kaho wrote the following dedication: Para Bartoli con amor, Mara (To Bartoli with Love, Mara). It was directed to José Bartoli, a Catalan artist with whom Kahlo had an affair in the mid-1940s. Additionally, Sotheby¿s will present Fernando Botero: A Celebration, three decades of paintings and sculptures by the Colombian artist. The event will auction works by Botero like Hombre a Caballo (Man on a Horse), estimated to sell for as much as 1.2 million USD; Una Familia (A Family), expected to sell for up to 1.5 million USD; El Presidente (The President), a painting created in 1975; and Pedro a Caballo (Pedro on a Horse).
