From February 1-16, 2013, more than 150 Colombian artists will participate in different stages of the Argentinean capital as part of Cultural Colombia in Buenos Aires.
Music, dance, theatre, film, literature and visual arts will be the artistic expressions shown at several spaces in Buenos Aires; venues like the Museo MALBA, the Centro Cultural San Martín, the theatrical complex San Martín, and the TeatroUsina de lasArtes.
Some of the most noteworthy partsof the programare five plays that are representative of the new Colombian dramaturgy: La Siempreviva (The Immortal), shown at the Teatro Local; Mujeres de la Guerra (Women of War) by Carlota Llano; and the trilogy MalditaVanidad (Damn Vanity), Autor Intellectual,AutoresMateriales (Intellectual Author, Material Authors), and CómoQuieresqueteQuiera (How do you Want me to Love You). Likewise, the Ministry of Culture will present the book entitledLuchando Contrael Olvido (Fighting Against Oblivion), a study on the dramaturgy of the conflict in Colombia.
Two of the most important contemporary Colombian writers, William Ospina and Fernando Vallejo, will speak about "The divine and the human."
Seventeen recently produced Colombian films will be shown. Feature films, documentaries, and short films that are part of a selection that will show the Argentinean public the current state of the Seventh Art in Colombia. A conference about contemporary Colombian cinema and theatre will complement the exhibition. It will be given by Sandro Romero-Rey and director Luis Ospina will be presenting his documentary entitled La DesazónSuprema.
The exhibition by Oscar Muñoz entitled Protografías, currently being presented at the Museo MALBA and organized by the Museo de Arte of the Banco de la República, will also be part of the program. This exhibition is the first grand retrospective by this artist in Latin America. With almost forty years of artistic career, Muñoz is regarded as one of the most prominent figures in Colombian contemporary art.
The one hundred musicians, singers, and dancers that are part of the Caribe, Salsa y Pacífico ensemble will present the musical and traditional sounds of the Colombian coast. Cumbias, porros and salsas are rhythms that will be heard in two concerts that will offer symphonic arrangements and a Colombian rhythmic base.
Cultural Colombia in Argentina is part of a series of activities and artistic, cultural and educational exchanges to occur between the two countries under the cooperation agreement between the ministry of Culture of Colombia and its counterpart in Buenos Aires.
