From April 7 through April 17 the city of Santiago, Chile, will become a place for experimentation in which Chilean and international artists will transform abandoned buildings and public squares into places of encounter. Their proposals will address social fractures that will become even more evident in that urban context. "Changing Places/Revealed Spaces" is an eleven-day program that will include installations, artistic actions and performances. Likewise, it will open new experimental spaces for visitors and neighbors to generate creative impulses based on social interaction. The curatorial team will be formed by Enrique Rivera, María-José Cifuentes and Joachim Gerstmeier. Several workshops, discussion forums and other initiatives will be offered to complement the event during and after the period of the exhibition, in order to promote a dialogue centered on the future of the city and the potential of art. The initiative is part of the series Changing Perspectives/Revealed Spaces presented in the city of Buenos Aires, Argentina, in 2014. The new project was developed in early 2015 in Santiago, Chile, as an initiative from the Fundación Siemens Stiftung in collaboration with the Chilean National Council for Culture and the Arts, the Fundación Patrocinio Creativo, and many other partners. Offering new perspectives on collectivity and on the importance of the local context in the era of globalization are some of the objectives of this exhibition. Some of the participating artists are: Magdalena Arau (Argentina), Abraham Cruzvillegas (Mexico), Nicolás Grum (Chile), Ant Hampton (UK), Britt Hatzius (UK), Raul Hott (Chile), Sebastián Jatz (Chile), Ronald Kay (Chile), Daniel Lie (Brazil), Ken Lum (Canada), Eva Meyer-Keller (Sweden), Rabih Mroué (Lebanon), Valentina Muhr (Chile), Ivan Navarro & Courtney Smith (Chile), Mario Navarro (Chile), Javiera Peón-Veiga (Chile), Amanda Piña (Chile/Austria), Cristián Plana (Chile), Catalina Pollak (Chile), Pilar Quinteros (Chile), Raqs Media Collective (India), Prem Sarjo (Chile), Maria Siebald (Chile), Meg Stuart (USA), among others.
