The Fundación arteBA and Arcos Dorados Argentina announce their call for participation in the second edition of the Arcos Dorados Latin American Painting Competition, deadline: March 4th. The call is open to Argentine artists, between the ages of 18 and 35, who live in Brazil, Costa Rica, Peru, Puerto Rico, or Venezuela. Applicants must fulfill all of the requirements and conditions established in the rules and regulations of the competition. Any individual who participated in the previous edition of the competition will not be accepted. The Selection Jury is formed by: Tamara Díaz-Bringas (independent curator, living in Barcelona and San José, Costa Rica), Julieta González (Venezuelan, Associate Curator of Latin American Art at Tate Modern, London, U.K. and independent curator), Rodrigo Moura (Curator at the Instituto Inhotim in Minas Gerais, Brazil), Rodrigo Quijano (independent curator, associated with the La Culpable space in Lima, Peru), and Marianne Ramírez-Aponte (Executive Director at the Museo de Arte Contemporáneo, Puerto Rico). They will choose, from among all the participants, one artist to represent each country in the second edition of the Arcos Dorados Latin American Painting Competition. Arcos Dorados will grant a purse of 8,000 (eight thousand) USD to each of the five artists selected. This sum represents a unique and final payment and includes all applicable taxes. Artists must submit a receipt or any other proper proofs of payment-in their name-as required by current tax law. Likewise, artists must also present their airplane tickets (tourist or economy) and a record of the nights spent at a hotel-that corresponds with their stay in the city of Buenos Aires-for the purpose of working on the assembly of their pieces or to be present during the fair. The artist selected will be informed during the last week of March, 2011. More information at:
