XVI Call for Scholarships for Visual Art Studies 2008-2009

The Marcelino Botín Foundation opens its call for Visual Arts and Organization of Exhibits Scholarships for the 2008-2009. These scholarships will support education, research and personal projects that will culminate with the organization of the exhibit titled Itinerarios (Itineraries) and the publishing of its catalog. The call is open to people from any nationality with the only restriction of being between 23 and 40 years old, to be eligible for the formative scholarships. The money allocations for the scholarships are: without changing residence, 16,000.00 Euros; moving to one country from another, 24,000.00 Euros; including moving expenses to the United States, 28,000.00 Euros. These financial supports cover travel, housing and living expenses as well as the rent of a studio. In addition, the tuition fees from the chosen academic institution will be added to cover academic scholarships and health insurances, provided that moving occurs. The deadline for all applications is May 9 of 2008. Among the ever growing number of artist participating to obtain these scholarships, there are many of the most dynamic and passionate creators from every generation. This makes certain that new talents will be found. The Foundation¿s exhibit space, located on Marcelino Sanz de Sautola Street in Santander, is currently showing Itinerarios. This exhibit showcases works by those artists that won the scholarships in the 2006-2007 period: Pedro Torres, Rui Calçada Bastos, Liset Castillo, Patricia Dauder, Carmela Garcia, Raul Hidalgo, Ines Schaber, Azucena Vieites and, from Santander, Javier Arce. IV Call for Scholarships for specialized education on Exhibition Organizing and Museum Administration These are two scholarships to study outside Spain with the purpose of obtaining a comprehensive professional education on the theory and techniques for museum administration and exhibition organizing. Applicants most have completed undergraduate or graduate degrees ¿ or be currently in a Postgraduate Program ¿ in Visual Arts, Art History, Philosophy and Aesthetics, Literature, Humanities, or Criticism; or be professional artists that can demonstrate residing in the country for at least five years previous to the application date; they must be between 23 and 40 years old; be fluent in the language of the country where their chosen academic institution is located; and have in writing the acceptance of their chosen teaching institution.
