Through this award, MAVI-UC projects itself as an active agent in creating opportunities for young creators. At the same time, it aims to be a link between the public and artists to reflect the concerns and trends of the new generations, fostering critical dialogue on art.
In its beginnings, the competition was implemented with the support of the Chilean government through the Bicentennial Commission and was sponsored by BHP Minera Escondida for thirteen years. For the last two years, the MAVI Award has received funding from the Ministry of Culture, Arts, and Heritage through its Support Program for Collaborating Cultural Organizations.
