The call for submissions to the Eugenio Mendoza Prize is now open. The Prize was established as a stimulus for emerging creators and the call is open to Venezuelan artists regarding of their place of residence, and to non-Venezuelans residing in the country. All participants must be younger than 40 years old on November 13th, 2014. Artists can submit a single project, presented in a format that can be found at Inscripción Premio Mendoza 12+1. Artists must download the submission form, complete it, and send it with the required documentation to
premiomendoza@salamendoza.com. Submissions must be received before October 30th. The submission form asks for personal information, information about the submitted work, a description and conceptualization of the project, and its technical specs. Submissions must also include a current CV, a portrait of the artist and a 350dpi photograph of the work. In the case of unfinished works, artists may submit plans, texts, sketches, or any additional document they deem appropriate for the understanding of the project. Also, the total selling price of the work must be stated, for negotiations by Sala Mendoza. A jury comprised of 12 curators, coordinated by Willy McKey, will vote for 12 projects. The 12 artists whose projects obtain the most votes will be selected for this 13th edition of the Eugenio Mendoza Prize. The list of selected artists will be published on November 30th, 2014. For this edition of the Eugenio Mendoza Prize, submissions are accepted in any technique or format. However, it is recommended that participants take into account the logistic and spatial limitations of Sala Mendoza. Artists who are unsure about the latter can contact the Direction of Sala Mendoza. Submissions must be new work, not exhibited before. The exhibition of the works selected for participation will open to the public in January, 2015, according to Sala Mendoza's exhibition calendar. There is a single Prize, consisting on a creative residence at a location to be communicated after the selection process. Also, the Sala Mendoza Foundation is committed to organizing a solo exhibition in 2016, featuring the work developed by the artist during his or her residence.
