The 13th edition of the Rufino Tamayo Painting Biennial invites Mexican artists over the age of 30 who reside in Mexico or abroad to submit unpublished paintings created between 2016 and 2018. The call will remain open until June 4 of 2018 and the artists selected will be announced on June 26, 2018, through the Ministry of Culture of Mexico, the Instituto Nacional de Bellas Artes, and the Museo de Arte Contemporáneo Internacional Rufino Tamayo; as well as through the Ministry of Cultures and Arts of Oaxaca, the Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de Oaxaca, and the Fundación Olga y Rufino Tamayo. The call seeks to strengthen and promote pictorial expressions in Mexico through the selection of works that reflect a national artistic project. These works will be exhibited on September 20 of 2018 at the Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de Oaxaca and at the Museo Tamayo de Arte Contemporáneo in Mexico City. A jury will choose three winning works from among the works selected. Each of the winning works will be awarded an acquisition prize of 150,000.00 Mexican pesos (approx. USD 8,000.00) and will become part of the collection of the Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de Oaxaca.
