The City Council of Benamocarra (Malaga, Spain), announces the call for the 12th edition of the Benamocarra International Painting Award 2012.
The call is open to all artists without restrictions of age, place of residency, or nationality. Concurrently with the International award, there will be a local award offered to participants from Benamocarra.
Candidates may submit a single original work that has not previously been awarded in any other competition. Artists are free to choose any theme and technique for their works. Candidates participating in the international competition must submit works that are at least 80 cm (31.49 inches), and no more than 120 cm (47.24 inches), along any of its sides. Candidates for the local award may present works of any size.
The works must be submitted by August 31, 2012, without a signature and mounted in a wood frame. Any works with glass will not be accepted. Additionally, an envelope with the following information must be attached to the back of the painting: title of the work, the author's full name, C.V., address, telephone number, technique, dimensions, two color photographs of the work and, if preferable, the author may choose to include the commercial value of the work.
The award consists of a purse of 3,000.00 euros for First Prize. A First Prize purse of 700 euros and a Second Prize purse of 500 euros will be awarded to the First Prize and Second Prize of the local competition.
The works selected will be exhibited from September 5–8, 2012, at the Sala de Exposiciones de Benamocarra.
