The 12th edition of Valoarte, an art expo-sale designed for collectors of contemporary art, will officially open on June 18th, in benefit of the non-profit Hogar Siembra. Valoarte, held every two years, will feature on this occasion 150 works by 100 artists from 20 countries. Among the artists are Carlos Cruz-Diez, Carlos Capelán, Carlos Poveda, Luis González Palma, and Lluis Barba. The initiative was launched in 2003 as an art and market show 100% in benefit of Hogar Siembra, an institution devoted to offering shelter and education for high-risk girls and adolescents. Since its first year, Valoarte has brought together large numbers of artists, collectors, students, art lovers, galleries, museums, institutions, and private companies, thus becoming an important event at the regional level. Thanks to its growth and track record, starting with the 2012 edition it consolidated as a one-of-a-kind art, market, and charity biennial. The 2016 edition of Valoarte, which will have a special opening for collectors and VIPs on June 15th and 16th, respectively, is an entirely renovated platform that begins on Escazú Avenue and ends in parallel at the Museo de Arte Costarricense, with a selection covering the entire area for the public. This is also the first time that Valoarte has not resulted from a competition, presenting instead a curated selection, said its Director, Karen Clachar. For more information, visit:
