12th Fernando Quiñones Competition

The Town Hall of Cadiz announces the call for the 12th Fernando Quiñones Competition in ten different modalities. The event is open to Spanish nationals and residents of Spain-under the age of 35 as of December 31, 2011-and who have not won the First Prize in the previous edition of the event, under the same category they plan to participate in. Candidates must submit their material no later than 12:00 pm on October 11 of 2011 to the following address: C/ Cánovas del Castillo, 41, 11004 Cadiz, Spain. Tel: (956) 221-223. Applicants must indicate the name of the event: "XII Certamen Fernando Quiñones." For the "Painting" category, participants may choose any theme and technique to create no more than three works not previously awarded in any other competitions; works must be submitted on stretchers or already framed. The winning paintings will become part of the JOVENARTE collection owned by the Town Hall of Cadiz. This modality offers a purse of 3,700 euros that will be divided in the following manner: First Prize will receive 1,500 euros and a diploma; Second Prize will receive 1,200 euros and a diploma; and Third Prize will receive 1,000 euros and a diploma. For the "Sculpture" category, participants may also choose any theme and technique to create their work. Participants may initially submit the actual work or a sketch of the work on paper or in digital media that includes a description of the piece. If the work is selected, then the author must present the actual work at the event¿s address. Authors may participate with a maximum of three works that adhere to the requirements already mentioned in the "Painting" modality. For the "Photography" modality, participants may submit a maximum of three black and white or color photographic series-not less than three, but not more than four, photographs each-that center on any theme. The photographs-images that were never before entered in any other competition-must be nonetheless about a single theme. A purse of 1,700 euros has been allocated for this category and it will be divided in the following manner: An Honor Prize for the amount of 1,000 euros, and a Prize to a single photograph for 700 euros. Both prizes will be accompanied with a diploma. Winners in the other modalities of "Comic," "Poetry," "Graffiti," "Pop Rock," "Short Story," "Short Film," and "Digital Animation" will also receive prizes in the form of money and with accompanying diplomas.
