The Eleventh International Biennial of the Poster in Mexico will be held within the framework of the Bicentennial Celebrations of Mexico¿s Independence and the Centennial of its Revolution. It is a call for designers from around the world to submit works centered on the concept of ¿Liberty.¿ Russia and Spain will be the two guest countries. Design students, graphic designers, plastic artists, photographers, and graphic producers of any art type, age, and nationality are invited to submit posters printed between May 2008 and May 2010. Participants may enter no more than four posters or poster series ¿ presented as one work ¿ for the Selection Committee to consider. The posters will be evaluated and selected by a Committee that includes prominent designers and experts in graphic design. The posters submitted may participate in the following categories: A. Posters on cultural themes and activities; B. Posters on political and social issues; C. Posters advertising commercial events, products, or services, and D. Never before published posters on the theme: Posters for Biodiversity. The organizers are authorized to reproduce the posters submitted to the competition in catalogs, exhibition, promotional editions, and electronic media, as well as promotional events for the Biennial, with the understanding that this is not done with the intent to profit financially, and all authors are always credited for their works. All posters will become part of the Trama Visual, A.C. Each category will offer three prizes: the First Prize will receive 3,500.00 USD, a Gold Medal, and a diploma; the Second Prize will consist of a Silver Medal, and a diploma, and the Third Prize winner will receive a Bronze Medal and a diploma. In addition, the International Jury will award the José Guadalupe Posada Gold Medal of Excellence to a working designer or to a participating country in recognition of contributions made toward the development of graphic design in Mexico. The Jury will also award the Carlos Lozano Prize ¿ consisting of a Gold Medal and diploma ¿ to the most prominent young Mexican designer of the Eleventh International Biennial of the Poster in Mexico. The call will remain open until May 31, 2010.
