Williams Carmona at the Florence Biennial of Contemporary Art

Cuban artist Williams Carmona will represent Cuba at the Florence Biennial of Contemporary Art from October 14-22. Carmona will exhibit four works, including three paintings from his "La Cuarentena" series. The featured work is a bronze sculpture titled "El hacedor de Justicia," which presents Jesus Christ as a thinker on a totem pole of suitcases held by a war tank.
Carmona with " El hacedor de Justicia" criticizes the war in Ukraine and advocates for dialogue as a solution to conflicts in a world marked by violence. Carmona expressed his concern about the lack of dialogue and understanding in today's world, where conflicts seem to be resolved through warmongering. He criticized the decreasing levels of communication between nations and the increase in violence, murder, displacement, and imprisonment as a result of this lack of understanding.
