William Alfonso López Rosas, Museo Nacional de Colombia New Director

William Alfonso López Rosas is the Museo Nacional de Colombia's new director. López Rosas has a degree in Literature, a master's in History and Theory of Art and Architecture, and a Ph.D. in Art and Architecture from the Universidad Nacional de Colombia.
Until a few days ago he was the director of the master’s degree in Museology and Heritage Management director at the Universidad Nacional de Colombia. Likewise, between 2006 and 2007, he managed the Art Museum of the same institution. López Rosas has focused his research on problematizing the museum's role in peacebuilding contexts. His publications include: “Museo en tiempos de conflicto: memoria y ciudadanía en Colombia” and “Arte y disidencia política: memorias del Taller 4 Rojo.”
The challenge of this new museum direction will be to unite the wide and heterogeneous collection of the Museo Nacional, with the narratives of memory and the need to re-think the national past.
