-- 30th Anniversary. ArtNexus/Arte en Colombia.
Arte en Colombia / ArtNexus celebrates its 30th anniversary. Under the direction of Celia Sredni de Birbragher and well established as one of the most recognized international publications on contemporary art, this magazine maintains, after three decades, its relevance as an important point of reference and a space for the widespread of Latin American art.
On the occasion of this 30th anniversary, the issue included two articles written by Luis Pérez Oramas, Adjunct Curator in the Drawing Department at MoMA (New York) and José Ignacio Roca, Chief of Temporary Exhibits at the Biblioteca Luis Ángel Arango, Banco de la República, Bogotá, and co-curator of the 27th São Paulo Biennial, Brazil, commenting on their experiences and the significance of ArtNexus for Latin American art.
A colophon text by Celia Birbragher revisits briefly the publication¿s origins and the creation of the www.artnexus.com website, and announces the opening, as part of the 30th anniversary, of the ArtNexus Foundation¿s Documentation Center, which will make available to the artistic community more than 9000 art-related documents such as books, catalogs and periodicals. http://www.artnexus.com/NewsDetail/16612

In this interview with Liliana Porter, José Luis Blondet reveals how the artist gives her works a different character according to the geographical context in which they are presented; he comments on the subject¿s relationship with her trade and her handling of temporality and space through video, installation, photography and objects. The text also comments on that unique interest in toys as didactic, punctual iconographies that deal with humor in a subtle fashion. Porter also talks about her current interest, centered about involving people in her work, besides her long-standing focus on certain objects. http://www.artnexus.com/servlet/NewsDetail?documentid=16198

-- Cecilia Paredes.
This text by Andrés Isaac Santana highlights the way in which this artist¿s work gives new meaning to the use of photographic supports, stripping it of its traditional roles with intriguing representational models. It questions the veracity of portraiture as a faithful copy of reality, creating simulated identities on the basis of images of beings that mutate between humanity and animalism, transforming their bodies and theatrical stagings that involve feathers, insects, wings, flowers, and makeup. All these elements allow Paredes to engage in a constant migration, a...
