-- Allora y Calzadilla's Floors
Jennifer Allora and Guillermo Calzadilla have worked together in Puerto Rico for nine years. Their artistic work reached maturity in the 1990s, and they have used certain objects and situations as the matrix for the creation of other object and situations with new interpretations and readings. A text by Silvia Karman Cubiña on the collaborative works of Allora and Calzadilla and their particular interest in floor pieces, Land Mark, was created as part of the movement of resistance against the bombing tests carried out by the US Navy in the island of Vieques, and it involved the manufacture of rubber-soled shoes to be used in civil disobedience actions, which printed on the ground various messages, such as "not another single bomb, not another single minute. -- Ana Mendieta. Earth Body, Sculptures and Performance 1972 – 1985
Under the title Earth Body, the Whitney Museum of American Art gathered the works produced by Cuban artist Ana Mendieta between 1972 and 1985. An article by Joel Weinstein comments the exhibition and the works presented —including photographs, videos, and performances— as well as the meaning of Mendieta's work, which focused on connecting nature and humanity.

The show was exhibited at the Whitney, in New York, in July 2004, and later art the Hirshhorn Museum in Washington .DC. in October 2004 and at the Des Moines Art Center in February 2005. It will travel to the Miami Art Museum in October 2005. Read the review
