Vik Muniz: "Closer to the Image"

Until September 28 of this year, the Banco de la República in Bogota presents the exhibition entitled Vik Muniz: Closer to the Image.

The exhibition evidences the way in which Muniz explores a vast array of unconventional materials, as well as visual and documented referents from history in order to create compositions that evoke new interpretations about the nature of visual information and artistic expression.

Muniz creates paintings or assemblages and then he photographs them. In most cases he destroys the original, as he sees it solely as a means to arrive to the photograph.
