Málaga's Centro de Arte Contemporáneo (CAC) presents an exhibition of works by Brazilian artist Vik Muniz (São Paulo, 1961). The show, comprised of close to 100 photographs, is a selection of well-known works of classical art, represented in a different way and immortalized in photographic portraits.
Muniz, whose work often features unconventional materials, plays with the viewer's imagination. He took his earliest steps as a sculptor in the 1980s, and gained recognition with a series of portraits titled Chocolate (1997) and with his characteristic portraits using waste and refuse materials (2006).
Muniz currently lives and works in New York City. His exhibition at the Centro de Arte Contemporáneo—CAC—will remain open through December 2, 2012.
