The Universidad Nacional de Tucumán (UNT) and the Museo Dr. Juan B. Terán of the UNT (MUNT) announce their call for the 7th National Contemporary Art Salon. This call is open to artists working in any of the following disciplines: painting; sculpture; drawing; object art; photography; video art, and printed digital art. A number of works will be selected from the pieces submitted. The 7th Salon will be inaugurated on July 7, 2010. The winners will be announced on July 29, and the MUNT will have until August 13, 2010 to exhibit the winning works. The Selection Jury responsible for choosing the works that will participate in the exhibition and competition will be made up of prominent local professionals of the artistic world. The Award Jury will include the members of the Selection Jury in addition to two other distinguished professionals of the artistic world at the national level. With the exception of the Special Mention by the Public, this jury will award the prizes after the inauguration of the exhibition at the MUNT. An official document, which will not attest to the reasoning behind the selection of the winners, will be created as a record of the decision. The prizes are a $10,000 First Acquisition Prize, a $7,000 Second Acquisition Prize, a $4,000 Third Acquisition Prize, three Special Mentions consisting of diplomas that make no distinctions on degree of merit, and a Special Mention by the Public that consists of a diploma. This Special Mention by the Public will be reached by means of voting. Exhibition visitors will be able to cast their votes on July 18 and at an on-site voting booth available for this purpose.
