The Universidad de Córdoba and the Junta of Andalusia (Ministry of Economy, Innovation, Science and Employment), announce the 8th Pilar Citoler International Biennial Award for Contemporary Photography 2015. Aimed, since 2006, at the promotion and support of contemporary photography works, the event is regarded as the most generously awarded among the events of its genre in the artistic scene. To participate in the 8th Biennial Award, contemporary visual artists must enter their works between October 1 and October 20, 2015, taking into account that the award evaluates both artistic trajectories as well as the contemporary appeal of creators and their works. The Award grants three types of recognitions to the winner: A purse of 15,000.00 euros, a solo exhibition in 2018 in the city of Córdoba, and the publication of a monographic book of the winner's work in the context of the collection The Eye that You See, of which the first seven volumes have already been published in collaboration with contemporary photography theoreticians like: Quentin Bajac, Juan Manuel Bonet, Alejandro Castellote, Kathy Kubicki, Sema d'Acosta, Ramón Esparza, Miguel Fernández-Cid, Javier Hontoria, Alberto Martín, Joan Nogué, Abel H. Pozuelo y Alfonso de la Torre. The jury will convene in the first weeks of November, 2015. It will be presided by Pilar Citoler and will be formed by: Juan Ugalde (artist who created the image for the Pilar Citoler International Biennial Award for Contemporary Photography 2015); Moisés Perez de Albeniz (Galería MPA); Vari Caramés (photographer, winner of the earlier edition of the award); Pablo Juliá (Director of CAF-Centro Andaluz de Fotografía); Pablo Rabasco (Professor of History of Photography and Latest Tendencies in Art at the Universidad de Córdoba); Jesús Micó (theoretician, critic and curator); and Alfonso de la Torre (theoretician, critic and curator).
