Univision Donates Artworks to Frost Art Museum

The Florida International University (FIU) announced that US broadcast television network Univision has donated to the Patricia and Phillip Frost Museum, in Miami, 57 works of art by Latin American masters such as Wifredo Lam, Humberto Calzada, Cundo Bermúdez, and Rafael Soriano. These new acquisitions by the Frost Art Museum (which is part of the FIU) will be showcased in an exhibition titled "Reflections of the Americas. New Acquisitions from the Collection of Univision" held from September 2017 to January 3, 2018, to coincide with the celebration of Art Basel Miami Beach in December. The director of the Museum, Jordana Pomeroy, said that it was an "honor" to have been chosen by Univision as the guardian of this Latin American art collection containing paintings, serigraphies, and mixed media works created during the 1990s and 2000s. Pomeroy added that this collection "aligns naturally with our mission to inspire and propel Miami's evolution as a cultural destination." Other artists with works in the collection are Antonia Guzmán and Fernando De Szyszlo, as well as artists from Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Puerto Rico, Santo Domingo, the US, Uruguay, and Venezuela.
