The General Direction of the South American International Contemporary Art Biennial calls artists and curators to participate in the program for its 1st Biennial, to be held in late 2017. Curatorial and research projects submitted for consideration will be evaluated on their originality, pertinence, and transdisciplinary components. Projects will be selected for presentation at locations to be determined, or, depending on their specific characteristics and possible convergences, for their incorporation into the general curatorial program. The selection of projects and the final roster of works and/or participants will be formalized in close collaboration with the Biennial's General Direction and its designated officers, in order for proposals to accommodate the architectural specifications, contexts, and uses of the Biennial sites, among other considerations. Projects will be evaluated by a committee composed of Hans Ulrich Obrist (Switzerland), Tadeu Chiarelli (Brazil), Estrella de Diego (Spain), Christian Boltanski (France), José Roca (Colombia), Elvira Dyangani Ose (Equatorial Guinea), Ticio Escobar (Paraguay), Ernesto Ottone (Chile), and Diana Wechsler (Argentina). The Biennial's General Direction and its advisory committee will decide on the final selection. Curators can submit projects individually or as a group. Only one project by each curator or group can be submitted, and projects must be new (not previously exhibited) and include the participation of two or more artists or collaborators. The second part of the call is addressed to artists, who are invited to submit proposals for the 1st International Biennial. The call is free. Project must be submitted via email at bienalunasurproyectos@bienalunasur2017.org through July 30, 2016, and will be evaluated by the Biennial's General Direction and its Advisory and Curatorship Committee (formation in progress).
