A Tension - Leandro Erlich

From January 5 to March 7, a set of 17 large-scale works will be installed, altering the way of seeing the emblematic building of the Banco do Brasil Cultural Center, Rio de Janeiro.
The exhibition "A Tensão" (A Tension), by the Argentine artist Leandro Erlich, curated by Marcello Dantas, works with references that are literally "common places", spaces that we are used to seeing in our day to day, but displaced from the condition of normality.
Erlich's work is structured around the mechanism of doubt, of questioning what our senses perceive against what our minds know. The viewer finds himself in trivial everyday situations, such as taking an elevator, being in a classroom, but the optical illusions and the subversion of reality that the artist proposes make his works acquire surrealist connotations of adventure.
