This Exhibition by Fernell Franco showcases his experiments and career-long inquiries into the photographic medium. The works included in the show represent an attempt to convey the interest of this artist in capturing the image of a city in a constant process of creation, destruction, and recreation, an interest that has led him to propose works that redefine the boundaries of photography. Curated by José Falconi and Ángela Gómez, the exhibition is part of the National Homage Program of the Ministry of Culture in Colombia, whose purpose is to showcase proposals by great creators who, through their works, have made important contributions to the art history of the nation. Entitled Una impecable Soledad (An Impeccable Solitude), Photographs by Fernell Franco, the show includes 101 artworks -most of these small-format pieces- and divided in two thematic centers: Processes and Sketches. The public is exposed to the photographic process, the use of color and lighting, and even to the gradual deconstruction of the photographic product, in an attempt to convey the destruction of the city. This exhibition is organized in collaboration with the David Rockefeller Center for Latin American Studies of Harvard University and the Fundación Fernell Franco. It will remain open until April 24, 2011.
