A Vegetal Encounter

From May 28 to September 19, the exhibition "Un encuentro vegetal" curated by Bárbara Rodríguez Muñoz (Wellcome Collection) can be visited at La Casa Encendida of Fundación Montemadrid.
"A Vegetal Encounter" results from a collaboration between La Casa Encendida and the Wellcome Collection of London. This exhibition reassesses plants, above and beyond their use for human consumption, and reveals their importance and their diligence through the works of Patricia Domínguez (1984, Santiago de Chile), Ingela Ihrman (1985, Kalmar, Sweden), and Eduardo Navarro (1979, Buenos Aires).
The exhibition proposes a meditation on the vegetal world and what may be learned from it. Conceived as a dialogue, it reveals the three artists' practices, whose work deconstructs the artificial wall between ourselves and nature, which is devastating our ecosystems, our life, and our health.
During the exhibition, there will be an extensive program of activities: such as the courses "How to tell the story of our plants," "Wolves, dolphins, and zamioculcas: research and sound art" or the workshop and conversations "The ecology of the soul" framed in the cycle dedicated to the Brazilian writer Clarice Lispector; recitals and films around names like Stefano Mancuso, or Werner Herzog and with the participation, among others, of Anna Laura Jeschke, Benjamin Moser, Nélida Piñón or Ignacio Castro Rey.
