The triennial has emerged as a result of a renewal of the San Juan Print Biennial, with an invitation extended to four prestigious curators: Justo Pastor (Chile), Harper Montgomery (USA), José Ignacio Roca (Colombia) and Margarita Fernández (Puerto Rico), and one special advisor: Mari Carmen Ramírez (Puerto Rico/USA), to take as their starting point the role played by printmaking in current contemporary art. The Puerto Rican Culture Institute and the Office of the San Juan, Latin America and Caribbean Poly/Graphic Triennial announce the opening of the event¿s central exhibition for December 4, 2004. However, official activities will start on October 12, with the opening of the show ¿Inscritos y proscritos: desplazamientos de la gráfica puertorriquena,¿ curated by professor Margarita Fernández Zavala.
