Trailer Park Projects of Puerto Rico in Chicago

The Puerto Rican alternative exhibition space Trailer Park Projects has been selected by the institute of Puerto Rican Arts and Culture in Chicago (IPRAC) to bring its project to the city of Chicago. The grant comes from the Chicago Community Trust, which funds non-profit cultural entities working with artistic proposals in various Latino communities around he city. With these funds, IPRAC will purchase a tuck to headquarter Trailer Park Projects in Chicago and will provide an exhibition gallery for artists participating in the project during its duration.

The idea for the project is to bring young local artists living and working in Puerto Rico to different Puerto Rican and Latino communities in Chicago, giving greater diffusion to their work. As part of the project, selected artists will offer a series of workshops helping the communities integrate into the process of art and understand the work of each artist and the creative process in general.

The project, launched on March 22nd, 2012, will last for 7 months. Its opening featured a selection of works by Jorge Rito-Cordero, created over the last decade. In addition to the IPRAC exhibition gallery, Cordero will exhibit his newest proposal in the trailer that will visit various Boricua communities.
