Urban planner and conservationist Tony Goldman (1943-2012) passed away in New York City on September 11, due to cardiac complications.
Goldman Properties, the company he owned and led, spearheaded the transformation and radical turnaround of the Wynwood district. There, Goldman created a cultural epicenter where galleries and art and design spaces congregate. Goldman Properties was also responsible for transforming Miami Beach into a tourist city, with celebrities' vacation homes, housing complexes, and a new city preserving art deco architectural landmarks.
Areas of New York City and Philadelphia were also witnesses to the rehabilitation operated by Goldman Properties.
Tony Goldman was born in Wilmington, Delaware. He established his real state company in the 1960s in the Upper West Side of New York City. His daughter, Jessica Goldman, will take over the firm's executive presidency.
