Tina Modotti at Museo Cerralbo

The Museo Cerralbo presents during the XXV edition of PhotoEspaña 2022 the exhibition dedicated to Tina Modotti.
The exhibition delves into Modotti's biography and works through 108 photographs and some crucial archival objects. She was one of the great women photographers of the 20th century.
Modotti was an artist and photographer of Italian origin, born in 1896 in the city of Udine and died in 1942 in Mexico. Her work delves into Europe and Latin America's turbulent decades of the '20s and '30s. Her photographic work is a paradigm of the fusion between Mexican revolutionary culture and avant-garde photographic aesthetics.
She was not only a photographer, as it is assumed that she worked for only ten fruitful years. However, her figure goes far beyond that: political and social activist, reporter, actress, model, and intellectual.
With her brief career as a photographer, she created an aesthetic of great forcefulness, also becoming one of the leading reporters of some of the most convulsive periods in the history of Mexico.
