El Museo del Barrio's sixth biennial begins on June 14, 2011, and ends on January 8, 2012. It will showcase works by 75 emerging Latin American and Caribbean artists that center on the theme of the street and explore the duality between the public and the private, everyday visual content, and the effects of several mediums on urban art production. In addition, the exhibition recovers parts of some early artistic expressions in New York City as well as the entirety of its cultural flavors, manifested through movements, arts, texts, and urban styles, among other things. Curated by Elvis Fuentes, Rocío Aranda-Alvarado, and Trinidad Fombella, the exhibition also aims at showcasing a larger variety of artistic proposals -not connected to graffiti or muralism- expressed through other mediums such as fashion and music.
