The Nader Art Museum Latin America (NAMLA) present the exhibition Merci la France

Merci la France, organized by The Nader Art Museum, explores the different ways in which the artists chose to represent ideas of Latin America in their work by depicting national or regional subjects and portraying cultural background as a source of national identity. The exhibition, on view until August 30, features works by renowned artists such as: Fernando Botero, Agustín Cárdenas, Mario Carreño, Carlos Cruz Diez, Bernard Dreyfus, Carlos Enríquez, Agustín Fernández, Pedro Figari, Víctor Manuel García, Wifredo Lam, Roberto Matta, Carlos Mérida, Armando Morales, Amelia Peláez, Emilio Pettoruti, Jesús Rafael Soto, Joaquín Torres García and Ángel Zárraga, among others. "The unique place of France in the story of the Art of Latin America and the Caribbean has long played a role in the collecting expertise of Gary Nader, who in part launched his career as a young man in Paris and decided to bring the artists he saw and met there back to the Americas, to Miami, his home," stated Dr. Carol Damian. "For each of these artists, their Paris years had a direct impact on the direction of their work. Whether it be Cubism, Abstraction or Surrealism that informed the course of their artistry, the Paris environment changed their work from the academic to the modern." Nader Art Museum Latin America (NAMLA) is dedicated to showcasing a myriad of art that fosters knowledge through a continuous process of appreciation and reinterpretation of modern and contemporary art from Latin American and its Diaspora. The museum is functioning on one of the floors of the Gary Nader Gallery at: NAMLA, 62 NE 27th Street, Wynwood Arts District, Miami.
