The Ellies opens a call for Miami artists and lecturers

Oolite Arts supports Miami's art community with a $500,000 award program presented through The Ellies, Miami's visual arts awards.
Beginning Wednesday, April 21, 2021, Miami artists and art lecturers can apply for a portion of The Ellies' funding by submitting an online application at TheEllies.org. Applications will be accepted until 6 p.m. on Monday, May 17, 2021.
"At Oolite Arts, our mission is to provide artists with the tools and resources they need to take their careers to the next level. The Ellies are the fuel to bring their ideas to life," said Dennis Scholl, president, and CEO of Oolite Arts. "While the pandemic was devastating for many artists, who lost jobs and exposure opportunities, many have continued to create. We are thrilled to be able to offer The Ellies as a way to provide them with the resources they need to bring that work back to the public."
The Ellies offers four categories. Submissions for The Ellies are accepted in the following two categories:
-Ellies Creator Awards supports working artists with grants of $2,500 to $25,000 to pursue a significant visual arts project that promotes their careers. Oolite Arts seeks bold ideas that speak to our community and our times. These awards are open to all artists in Miami-Dade County.
-The Ellies Lecturer Travel Grant provides K-12 art teachers with $5,000 travel funds to enrich their classroom curriculum. By encouraging professors to explore and share art experiences with their students, these grants help build the audiences our museums and arts organizations need to engage.
The Ellies also offer the Michael Richards Award to an eminent Miami artist and the Ellies Social Justice Award to an artist committed to working for equality in his or her art and personal life. These awards are given by nomination and are selected by a panel of judges.
