The program aims at offering a space for the exchange of ideas surrounding formal, methodological, affective, and theoretical aspects of the curatorial practice based on specific cases and experiences. It is a pilot program that poses questions about the various dimensions of curatorial work: research, thought and speculative discourse, writing, mediation between audiences, the accompaniment of artists and proximity to them, as well as the responsibilities of being a public agent and generating content that questions the present. Directed at curators from Central America based in the region and at foreign curators that reside in the region, the program will be held at TEOR/ética during five days of intensive work, from July 23 through July 27, from 10 am to 5 pm. Participants must attend all of the five days. The two international guests that will guide the presentations and discussions are: Chus Martínez (head of the Art Institute at the FHNW Academy of Arts and Design in Basel, Switzerland) and Elvira Dyangani Ose (director of The Showroom in London, UK), in dialog with Miguel A. López, co-director and curator of TEOR/éTica. Candidates must submit the following: biography (250 words), letter of intent (400 words), and a description of the curatorial project that the candidate would like to develop (400 words). The application process will remain open from May 15 to June 8 of 2019. The selected candidates will be notified on June 14, 2019.
